A joint project between Flinders Flicks, the Flinders Ranges Bush Festival, and other projects... the 2009 Film Maker in Residence was John Mannion, an oral historian and emerging film maker from Orroroo.
Film maker John Mannion was resident in Quorn for five days over the period of the Bush Festival, during which time he recorded over 20 hours of material fulfilling all objectives of the project. The material was presented during the festival in an unedited form, and is being used for multiple purposes including:
- interviews to be preserved in a community heritage archive
- recordings of the festival and projects will be referenced for survey and promotional purposes
- material collected for stories of food culture for a book to be released in 2010
- raising John Mannions profile through film presentings and being present in the community, andcarrying out his own research
The project was supported by a contribution from Country Arts SA in the form of a Quick Response grant, without which it would not have been possible. |
